Why am I attacking Jargon?

It started when I lost my job due to “a strategic decision that was made to initiate a facility consolidation effort, involving the closure of the current plant and the relocation of operations to a more geographically advantageous site in another state.” Really? That’s what we heard from our corporate headquarters. The head guy and a bunch of cronies just showed up one day, gathered the entire plant together (about 150 souls), and announced they were closing the plant in 60 days. Of course, he “hated that this was happening” and “I’ll do all we can to work with everyone in the transition.” I needed to find a new job. I had planned on retiring from this company in about four or five more years. So, the job search began. And the longer I perused every job board out there, the more I realized how screwed up this world is! It’s amazing anyone gets hired from the Bullshit job descriptions that companies post online. How can any of these people write these job descriptions and think they are clear and to the point? What’s more, the same BS duties and skills listed in these job postings ARE THE SAME, regardless of industry! It’s as if these people just find something they like and cut-and-paste to suit their position. And, as things happen, someone else saw that job posting, repeated the process and someone else saw it and repeated it, and so on and so on, until it ballooned out of control, until there was not an original thought anywhere in the job posting! My purpose is not just to expose the excessive verbosity but also to poke fun at the idea that complex words equal intelligence. My goal for this site is to expose the Bullshit that has permeated our society. NO ONE WILL BE SPARED!!! I'll attack Corporate America, Politics, Social Media, Academia, Medicine and Pharmacology, Self-Help, Entertainment, and any other Bullshit artists that expose themselves every day. I hope to give you a chuckle. I might even piss you off - not at me, but at the ridiculous way we have softened and disguised language through the years. But, my main goal is to make you think - for YOURSELF!! Don't be duped! Don't fall for the lies! And, maybe, just maybe, we can get started on the way to KILLING JARGON!
